Newcastle-upon-Tyne City Councillor for North Heaton ward since 2000. Former chairman of Newcastle-upon-Tyne City Council Liberal Democrat group. Executive member for Development and Regeneration on Newcastle-upon-Tyne City Council from 2004 to January 2006. Liberal Democrat spokesperson on the Urban Commission. Guest lecturer for Bartlett School of Graduate Studies, University College London.
Contested Vale of York in 2001 and Newcastle-upon-Tyne Central in 2005.

Voting Conservative will let Labour win.
Labour has taken Ealing Southall for granted.
