Scottish parliamentary elections in 1999 & 2003
The Aspect project was set up to create a digital archive of the ephemera - leaflets, flyers, postcards, newsletters - produced by candidates and political parties for the Scottish parliamentary elections in May 1999 and May 2003.
Welsh Political Archive
The National Assembly of Wales Welsh Political Archive gives a comprehensive breakdown of results in the Welsh elections of 1999 and features digitised copies of electoral ephemera published by the candidates in the 1999 campaign.
2002 Irish General Election Posters
This site contains hundreds of posters from the Irish General Election of 2002. Choose from the list of all 42 constituencies to see the posters used by each candidate in that constituency. The site also contains results from most Irish Elections since 1918
NEW The Irish Election Literature Blog NEW
This is a new Blog site dedicated to Irish Election Literature. It contains election literature from over 30 political groups as well as Independents and stuff from most referendums since the early 1980s. This site is still under construction and is being added to regularly.
US presidential campaign memorabilia
There is a collection of US presidential campaign memorabilia in the America Votes collection at Duke University, which covers US presidential elections from the late 19th century to the present day.
The Straight Choice
The Straight Choice is an real-time election leaflet project. Their ambition is to create a live visualization of the flood of party political leaflets as they are delivered across the country during an election campaign. If you have recently received any election leaflets through your door you can help by photographing or scanning them and uploading the images to their server.
Content and aims of this website
This website was set up to create a digital archive of the ephemera - leaflets, posters, postcards & newsletters - produced by candidates and political parties contesting any British elections.
We hope that the creation of this digital archive will significantly improve the accessibility and usability of the materials held on this website, to students and researchers of political and governmental science, politicians and civil servants, journalists and general public.
As well as digital reproductions of the original materials, we made available - for the first time on one website - the results of all British Parliamentary by-elections held since the 1945 General Election.
Help us to improve the content of this website
The creators of this website are keen to extend its coverage wherever possible. Anyone who has copies of or access to any literature from any election that is not currently available on this website and is willing to provide us with original material, or digital images of original material, is encouraged to email us at: by-elections.
We have also teamed up with The Straight Choice project so that anyone can now add election leaflets direct to this internet archive project.
