Sir Peter Soulsby
Vice-Chairman of British Waterways. Born in Bishop Auckland, Co. Durham. Worked as a special needs teacher. Member of Leicester City Council from 1973 to 2003, when he lost his seat to the Liberal Democrats. Leader of the Council 1981-94 & 1995-99. He was Knighted in 1999 for services to Leicester and Local Government.
The main themes of his campaign were:
Stop local Lib Dem council cuts.
Lib Dems - Soft on crime, Labour - Tough on Crime.
Don't vote for Mr Cuts or Mr 2Jobs - Vote for Mr. Leicester.
