Mark Stevenson
Born 1959, lives with his family in Dorchester on Thames and together they run an organic market garden. A former teacher, he was Head of Maths at an inner city school and has a research degree in philosophy from Oxford University.
He joined the Green Party in 1997 and Contested Witney, against a then-unknown David Cameron, in the 2001 general election. Contested Henley in the 2005 general election, when he was the only candidate other than Boris Johnson to improve his party's share of the vote.
Contested the
Dorchester and Berinsfield division in the 2005 Oxfordshire County Council
election. In last year's District Council elections for the Berinsfield ward, Mr
Stevenson came second to the Conservatives. Has been a Dorchester Parish
Councillor since 2006.
The main themes of his campaign were:
Save our schools, Hospitals and Post Offices - Put public services first.
Build a safer World - Say NO to replacing Trident nuclear weapons.
Action on Climate Change - More green energy and less pollution.
