Chris Herriot
Formerly a miner, but was sacked during the Mineworkers strike of 1984-85
and now works as a
Community Education Manager. Founding President of the Socialist
Labour Party in Scotland. Contested Motherwell and Wishaw in the 1997 general
election, Paisley South in the November 1997 by-election and the 1999 Scottish
Parliament election, Airdrie and Shotts in the 2001 general election, and Ogmore
in the 2002 by-election.
The main themes of his campaign were:
An end to hospital closures and reductions in beds..
Get Britain out of the European Union.
Restoration of pre-1979 student grants, and the abolition of fees.
