Shan Oakes
Married with two sons, she has lived in East Riding since 1975.
She was an English
teacher for many years and is one of the founders of Voice International, an
organisation working to promote sustainability through education. She is also
Chair of the Trustees of the Development Education Centre.
The main themes of her campaign were:
Its time to put people before profit and think of our children's future.
We need local decision-making not remote unaccountable, big government.
Someone has to stand up for civil liberties - No to 42 days and No to even 28 days.
